Can't buy it anymore. Fortnite killed it

SteamWorld Dig

Simple and fun

Nothing more, nothing less. Starts slow, picks up the pace. Five hour run time, decent challenge, fun final boss. Recommend.

DUSK

It's perfect

When this game came out it was amongst a sea of same-y military themed FPSs with no real charm or passion behind their design. Not to say I don't enjoy CoD or Battlefield, I certaily do, but a nearly twelve year stretch of JUST those games put a sour stink on the FPS identity. Dusk is a revitalization of what made these games so fun to begin with. Modern shooters have their place, but stuff like Dusk is truly timeless. Sometimes I just wanna bunnyhop at light speed and super shotgun a cultist into non-descript pixelated giblets. So happy "boomer shooters" with so many different settings and concepts are coming out left and right, and it's largely thanks to Dusk's success.

Blood: One Unit Whole Blood

Easily an A+, star studded, retro FPS.

There's nothing I can add to Blood that hasn't already been said. This is it. This is the one. This is old school boomshoot at it's absolute peak. Every weapon feels good to use. Every enemy feels good to shoot. Nearly every level is immaculately designed. The official expansions are also pretty good. If you love Blood already, or just got into it and want more, do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY FROM Blood II. That game is dogwater. Instead, treat yourself to Deathwish, a mod for Blood that serves are a true, quality sequel.

Blood 2: The Blood Group

Want more Blood? This ain't it, chief...

Blood II is the perfect example of what happens when a publisher decides they want a full game on half a game's time and budget. The level design is a mess, the characters are ugly (even for the era), the music doesn't hit home like the first game... nothing sticks its landing. Nothing feels as good as the first game and barely holds a candle to many of the much better 3D shooters cropping up at the time. Doesn't help that this is made on Monolith's horrifically inconsistent Lithtech engine. It's a miracle F.E.A.R. turned out as good as it did. Tell you what. You want a true and worthy Blood sequel? Get the original game here on GOG, grab a sourceport that supports mods like BuildGDX or NBlood, then go to ModDB and snag the Death Wish mod. It's a fan made, three episode long, full game length sequel, picking up after the events of the first game that goes above and beyond anything this dog-water official seuqel could ever hope to accomplish. Heck, I'd say it's even better than the first game. Has a whole frickin' Silent Hill inspired level. You want Blood II? Play Death Wish.
