The game is shortish, and befitting its retro aesthetic, not too complex. You won't be doubling back endlessly in this one. It has a little variety in leveldesign with you alternately being in a robot-suit, submarine or just zooming around in cat form. Due to the visual style this isn't really reflected in the graphics though. The monochromatic pixel graphics worked for me, but I can imagine the style could wear on someone used to more visually stimulating games. The game is not too difficult. As you level up most enemies become relatively easy to beat and there are copious save points. The bosses can be figured out after a couple go's at them. The lineair nature of the game means it has limited replayability, and aside from one or two hard to find upgrades all items can be found by just following the map. All-in-all a fun little game which at its price, often discounted, is a real steal.
Gave this a shot out of curiosity to see Gen Urobuchi's earlier work. Stephen King meets Cronenberg with added lolli. Could've used more visuals and the ones you get are pretty repetetive. Story turns into torure porn at one point, which I found out I no longer have the stomach for. Probably more suited to edgy teenagers.
The game is rather short (about 4 hours of gameplay) and not to difficult. More of an interactive story. The lore reminded me somewhat of Blasphemous. Very atmospheric and the retro graphics are nice. Don't pay full price, but when it's discounted it's worth taking a chance on if you're a fan of fantasy stories
