Cyberpunk 2077

Focusing on the story and quests

The main story is okay but doesn't hold a candle to the witcher 3. Basically, some good writing and likable characters but it all ends so suddenly you could've sworn the game only finished downloading an hour ago (to avoid confusion the main quest takes about 15 hours). To make the length even more irritating it feels like the story only just started to get interesting and then bam! point of no return. Also the montage at the start of the game feels pretty lazy. Side jobs however are where the real meat is. With the exception of the racing and boxing questlines side jobs are well written and come very close to matching some of witcher 3s best moments. I especially like how some of these can even open opportunities for V that effect the ending of the main questline. My only gripe is that it feels like there are so few of these and there are so many missed opportunities for interesting quests that I can only assume that CDPR ran out of time before they could make more. The Gigs, honestly I can't quite decide how i feel about these. Gigs are basically 5 min quests that you mostly do to earn money (I'm not even going to get into the in-game economy, let's just say it really needs balancing). The quality of the gigs varies wildy, with some being really unique and interesting and others feeling like the busy work you'd find in an mmo. It's actually quite strange, it seems like half of them were meant to be fully fleshed out side quests but were downsized for time and so aren't as satisfying as they really should be. I think the main problem with gigs is the way they're given to you. Basically you go to a marker on the map get a 10 second phone call from the local fixer followed by a 3 paragraph text message about why you should care what you're doing, it's seems to be the perfect example of telling instead of showing. Overall story and quest-wise the game is... just okay. But if professional reviews are anything to go by, I seem to be in the minority on this.
