Treasure Adventure Game

Intersting, but insane at the same time

At first the game is really refreshing. It has quite interesting world, characters, some unique mechanics to unlock and nice soundtrack. As the story goes on, so does the difficulty. I'm no expert at this type of games, but certain platforming parts are just insane. There are save points and unlimited continues, but it helps only to a certain point. I managed to get to the boss guarding the 7th treasure: it caused me to ragequit and uninstall the game. Maybe I'm getting old, but this is just too much for me.

Unreal Gold

Amazing as it was.

I was looking forward to play this after many years and it delivered. Such great atmosphere, always loved exploring the areas in Unreal. Soundtrack by Alexander Brandon and Michiel van den Bos is one of the best ones out there. Enemies are varied and especially Skaarj AI is quite impressive (they will try to dodge projectiles and sometimes pretend they are dead). Weapons are fun to use, with each having at least two firing modes. One of my favourite FPS and games in general.

Anvil of Dawn

Underrated dungeon crawler

One of the most underrated games in my opinion and one of the reasons why I decided to make GOG my main "platform" for gaming. I fell in love with this one way back in 1996, when my friend invited my to his house and we watched his older brother play some games on his PC. I have never seen such games before, and Anvil of Dawn was one of them. The graphics and sound blew me away, as well as the FPP combat with melee weapons and drawn magic symbols. Only after 10 years I managed to find this gem (I did not know te title back then) and played it myself. This is one great experience. The design itself deserves a lot of praise, such a variety of creatures. I find the depressing tone of the game very interesting, feels like fighting already lost war. A lot of freedom is available to the player, so there's plenty of possibilities: what character to play, in what way specialize (what weapons, or magic) and in what order explore the areas. There's several annoying puzzles, but they do not disturb the overall experience. A nice touch is the fact that you can meet the other characters that you did not choose at the start.
