I am giving this a positive rating, however... I've played the original trilogy a lot. I love the STALKER games to pieces because of the unique immersion they create and this enhanced edition made me really happy... ...however... PLEASE, restore the Soviet Russian imageries and text. Even if the game is set in an alternate history, this disaster will always be linked to Soviet Russia and its incompetence and arrogance. That imagery points at Russia as the invader and agressor, both in the past and the present. It needs to be there as a reminder, especially in a virtual environment that is accessible to anyone who puchases these games.
If you're a fan of Hexen or Heretic, this could be your thing. It does the "retro thing" very well. That means there is no voice-acting, atmospheric music and sound design. The same goes for the choice of graphics, very basic and yet very immersive. There is no hand-holding. Figuring out the puzzles is not that hard but challenging enough to be entertaining. Dont' look up spoilers unless you're really, really, really stuck. You get a pleasant sense of accomplishment when you find your way or solve a puzzles by yourself.
