I don't know how they did it, but it perfectly captures the feeling of the old stalker games, the zone feels and looks amazing, the mutants are strong and scary, the other stalkers and anomaly are just as deadly as well! The only downside is the mouse acceleration being on by default, and having to edit a file to turn it off, but it's really a minor thing that doesn't change how great the game is!
