Great game. I am a big fan of the Resident Evil series. The big difference from the first and second game is that this game mostly takes place outside on the streets of Raccoon City. The level design of the streets is great, and the story is pretty good too. Nemesis is amazing! My only gripe is the dodging during combat, and the puzzles. Doghing feels jankey and I honestly am not 100% how it works. This leads to a lot of spamming the attack button during the Nemesis fights (Dodging and Attacking are the same button and it isn't great). I am a big fan of the puzzles in Resident Evil 2, they are easy to understand and feel satisfying to figure out. However, a large portion of the puzzles are terribly designed. There are a few good ones, but a lot of puzzles give no instructions and basically make you try every possible solution until you get it right. In the end it's a small price to pay when everything else in the game is amazing. Seriously, I spent hours just walking around the city, taking in the vibes and sounds. This game is so atmospheric and really sells you on the vibe of being trapped in the city of the dead. There wasn't a single location in the game where I was wishing it was over, I loved every second!!!
I first played Resident Evil 2 Remake in 2019. After finishing the origonal today, I can say that this game is just as good or maybe even better than the remake. Amazing gameplay that kept me hooked and wanting to come back. While at work I just couldn't stop thinking about how much fun I'd have when I got home. The story is also pretty good, interweaving two campaigns together to tell the full story, which is done better here than it was in the remake. Cannot reccommend enough. 10/10! even by todays standards.
