Clid the Snail is a narrative twin stick shooter set in a rather interesting world. I really liked the setting and the characters! But the game is sadly hold back by its briefness. I'd really like to know more about the world and mysteries that surround Clid but the game falls short on this end, coming to an excellent and surprising but otherwise quite rushed end. Moreover, boss fights are unfortunately repetitive and quite redundant. Graphics, narrative and in-game enyclopedias, galleries and OST player make this short game really worth palying though! I really hope they will bring a sequel about Itako sooner or later!
The remaster of the game is really well done. Like the gameplay, love the atmosphere. BUT. When you'll get at 67% progression YOU WILL GET STUCK BY CONTINUOUS CRASHES in a minefield UNLESS you know you have to turn off the remastered graphics and controls and play in windowed mode. MOREOVER. Some puzzles may obliterate your balls. There is no shame in getting help from the internet, especially when the PC SPAWNCAMPS you preventing you to go further unless you CHEESE (lookin' at you, destruction derby). Really great game, but it will definitely test your patience.
I really, really wanted to like this game. Graphics are awesome. And I really like the world setting they created. But this game suffers from continuous CRASHES during the boss fights. These are avoidable as long as you turn the graphic particles OFF in the options menu. But the last boss crash is NOT aviodable. I`ve tried everything, reading multiple forums on multiple platforms. Nothing works. Devs have fixed this issue only for the Steam build, not here......I really don`t know what to say. There should be more attention towards these problems from both the developers AND GOG. In conclusion: you want to play this very interesting metroidvania with really difficult bosses and hand-crafted graphics? GIve it a try. But you should prefer the more updated Steam version.
This game is so clever in using established tropes, monsters and places from the metroidvania genre to deliver something refreshing. However, this comes with quite frustrating controls. Jumping does not work very fine, sometimes it does not work at all. This is a problem for the ubiquitous platform part of the game. Moreover, baseball skills will be essential in order to overcome some bosses....the sword is quite frankly an excellent bat more than an edged weapon. This was quite a surprise and pissed me off in some fights, since the swing of the sword is very heavy and has to be timed carefully... In short, really nice game. But play it only if you have the patience to overcome its evident flaws.
