If you like tabletop wargaming, this should be right up your ally. It's the Great Battles Of History system. The interface is a little dated, but serviceable, and the graphics have aged well. The battles are deep and engaging, and the AI is competent. The GBOH system is so complex that having the game do most of the calculations actually helps, in this case. I've found that many tabletop-to-PC conversions kind of ruin the feel of the game because doing the heavy thinking yourself is part of the fun (see: Twilight Struggle). In this case, it translates really well.
