Stronghold Crusader HD

Crusader, Crusader HD + Crusader Extreme

People claim that they have been short changed, but GoG (by default) installs Crusader HD and the Extreme version. Unfortunately only the Extreme version gets a short-cut, but in the install folder you will find the "Stronghold Crusader.exe" game file which runs just fine And if you want something even older, the add-ons includes the original Crusader (not HD). So three versions of the game come with the purchase (for Windows). Overall the game is terrific. I find it challenging enough without the Extreme, so play just Crusader HD. I am getting super value for the game, and I didn't even get it on sale.

Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear

I enjoyed it very much

Overall I thought it was great content. Challenging, interesting main story and side quests. I bought it on sale, and definitely got my moneys worth and plan to play through it again with a different class. I was really concerned about buying it based on several negative reviews, but I am glad I picked it up. The down-vote is because it crashed on me twice, although restarting from the last save worked every time. Additionally, the story progress was a bit abrupt at times and I didn't get a chance to finish all the quests I started.

StarCrawlers

Overall, I had a great time

I played StarCrawlers through to the end on the Challenging setting. There were a few bugs along the way, but restoring a previous save and retrying solved the issues (at one point you must flee battle, and doing that didn't progress to the next game phase). I also thought the ending was weak, but still acceptable. There is a lot of variation in the classes. What class is best, and which group makeup is best seems pretty flexible. If you search for answers, everyone has a different response. That makes it fun to replay. It's time for a break from the game, but I will come back to play on hardcore and using different characters in the group, as well as siding with different factions. There are many factions in the game, but they don't appear to make a huge difference to the game play. Some have loot perks that are nice, but that is about it. I spent a lot of time on the game and enjoyed it, and will play through again sometime soon.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein

It's an oldie but a goodie.

I bought this game on sale recently (August 2018). One odd thing was the screen resolutions didn't include 1920x1080, so a quick search found the unofficial patch to 1.42d. It's a bit risky to patch unofficially, so I made a backup of the entire game first. After installing the patch, more Wide Screen resolutions were available, including 1920x1080. That is a pretty common resolution to use these days. The game shows these as "WS" resolutions in the options menu, and they pop up after normal resolutions. The game worked just fine with the 1.42d patch for me under Windows 10. For its age, the game looks great and runs very well, especially compared to my experience with it 15+ years ago. As I recall, it was struggling on my computer at the time at a much lower resolution. Now it's all nostalgia, plus a much improved gaming experience at a reasonable price and no DRM. Heck of a deal.
