I didn't think I would like this game much but the more I play, the more I like!
As usual with Panzer Corps the difficulty is all over the place and so sometimes gets a little tedious. Not too worried about this .. the game overall is nice! My main gripe though, is that there is ALWAYS a problem syncing the saves after playing. It takes FOREVER, generally doesn't work so I have to retry time and again! (tried the ONEDRIVE solution GOG recommends but it doesn't help at all.
Like playing the best TOTAL war game but MUCH more realistic and gritty. Unlike TOTAL war it doesn't allow you to cheat and build a huge army but forces you to STRATEGISE! Although the graphics are slightly basic, the sounds of battle are incredibly atmospheric and immersive. The terrain is detailed enough to give nuance to every battle - it really feels like you have control of each soldier and their fate is in your hands! Flank or allow thousands to perish!... ...... (but is the enemy flanking you?!!!)
I love this game... it's just the kind of game I needed to play at the moment. Unlike some recent games in the genre, it seems (so far) very site specific .. whilst other games have you to'ing and fro'ing from a myriad of locations to perform various tasks (which I now find tedious and just a boring chore) ... Tower of Time is more focussed on crafting the most effective team of adventurors, and progressing through levels of (you guessed it) .. a magical Tower! It is therefore more combat and skill based (but with still an engaging backstory and sometimes gorgeous and interesting locations) Do yourself a favour and play on hard setting - too easy otherwise, and SOOO satisfying when you find the right combination of weapons, skills and spells to take down a monsterous elite boss!
