Primordia

Great with a few flaws

Absolutely fantastic and interesting world to be dropped into. The sidekick character, while chipper and charming, is a great way to provide hints to the player at their discretion. Though for some puzzles he was not that helpful. I personally only had to check a walkthrough three times for my playthrough since near all of the puzzles were logical and perfectly solvable with a bit of brain power. The only thing I did not like is how the game handled the story endings. I got I think the worst ending possible but there was absolutely no clue or hint during play I was on such a path. Upon researching the other endings it seems a bunch of them are actually locked out to you based on how you solve a very early game puzzle which is unfortunate.

Close Combat: Gateway to Caen

Gorgeous and Gritty

Gateway to Caen is a great close combat game. The art and sound and additional options like air support are all fantastic and serve to enhance the game. Also for any military history fans this is a much overlooked very specific part of the Normandy campaign so this game may well be worth it for some on a purely educational level. The gameplay is still close combat however this is based on the improved / remake close combat system and as such for this style of game I find some of the maps too large. It takes your units forever to move across them and the default 15min time limit for battles barely seems adequate. However this could be due to my own shortcomings as a "combat commander". Difficulty wise the game for me was a lot more difficult than the earlier games in the series. Overall I would say this is the superior game compared to panthers in the fog and if you have to choose only on new close combat then get this one.

Freespace 2

Amazing, the definition of a GOG!!!

I remember when this game was released, i did not have a pc powerful enough to run it. now finally 11 years later i got to play it, and it was GREAT. One of the most engaging and compelling space combat shooters ive ever played. The storyline is actually better and more immersive then the majority of Twitch fixes released today. I cannot remember the last time i was so engrossed. The graphics are still up to the job and can easily be brought into the 21st century with one simple mod. I came to this after having played Starlancer,Freelancer and tachyon and i must say, this is the daddy.
