Get yourself a Rat King mech, fit it a couple heavy weapons, and the Sonic weapon as your special weapon. Then kick back, relax, and let loose with the technological terror you've just constructed. Wonderfully cathartic gameplay with great sound effects and music. I haven't even touched the story campaign yet, but I'll try and update my review when I do. FYI if you don't like the tank controls, get an Anti-Grav vehicle instead. they control more like a twin stick shooter. Otherwise check the game's settings, I think there's a control format toggle somewhere.
I am unhappy with this game, I initially bought this game on the premise that it was made by the same company that made R.U.S.E. (very unique and extremely well polished strategy game with very well fought out fog of war mechanic). This game is riddled with tiny irritants that initially were ignored, but soon you begin to loose fights because of them. Things like: Tanks reversing into battle showing their weakest armour first, infantry fighting better if you split them into tiny groups rather than platoons, helicopters ignoring orders in favor of spinning and doing somersaults, or the fact that every single transport vehicle can't handle any forests or even tree lines, much rather spend 1:30 minutes of the attack on an enemy position repairing a wheel or track (those tree lines may as well just be walls). It does however bring a lot of new things to the table, such as a deck building mechanic that allows you to construct your own army composition, but all the polish that I witnessed in R.U.S.E. is gone. After playing Red Dragon I found a much more complete experience. All of the new and imaginative features in this version are improved upon in Red Dragon, and most of the irritants are nowhere to be seen. Units are more responsive, alive, and combat capable. So do yourself a favor and get Wargame Red Dragon, or R.U.S.E. instead and enjoy what this, clearly capable, company has to offer. Thank you for your time. P.S. I own the Steam version of all games mentioned in my short review. I highly doubt that even GOG has managed to single handedly fix the problems with this game.
