Alpha Protocol

Favorite Obsidian Game

Alpha Protocol is Obsidian's answer to Mass Effect 2, and while the cast is nowhere as big, the narrative reactivity is incredible. You're allowed to make good or bad decisions, and to make them for pragmatic or sentimental reasons. There's one character that most people see a lot of, but that ended up being a villain in my playthrough, in a way that felt surprisingly organic. This game also has some of my favorite romances (Mina simply ticks a lot of boxes for me). Were it not for the minigames, this would be a 5/5 for me personally. There are mods to tweak a lot of things except for the minigames, which is a shame. That being said, as someone who tried New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity, this is the first in Obsidian's library that I've finished. Maybe that says more about me than anything, but it's very easy to get invested if you're willing to be patient with the game's unrefined mechanics.
