Phew! I just finished my very first playthrough and that was something! I wasn't sure my city would be able to survive, the citizens werent' sure either, as their Hope was falling and Discontent was rising, but we did it! Against all odds. This game is something more than just a game, like it is with This War of Mine. You will remember it afterwards. It hits the right spot. There're many hard moral choices to do along the way which make you reflect for a while about what to do next. There's a lot of managing the resources, temperature of generator and heating hubs, and which Laws to introduce and which not. Even though it took me only 8 hours to finish the scenario, I immediately want to buy a Season Pass to experience more! And there are 2 more scenarios in the base game as well. The game looks very good, you do get a sense of isolation. Music hits all the right notes. Builds tension, keeps you engaged in what's going on. There is no tutorial, the game explains what to do along the way so it's alright in my opinion. Definitely worth playing!
I really liked it. I've put 40 hours into it so far, which was mostly playing in a standard mode (where I had around 300 sols), where you just manage your colony and make sure everything's okay. Tutorial is not really helpful, doesn't cover the important stuff that you learn on your own later (I did it through trial and error method, really, which is fine with me). I turned off the radio, couldn't stand the music/auditions. But the sounds of the colony itself are kinda... soothing. Visually the game looks really good - there is a certain beauty to the barren, rocky surface of Mars. It's somehow interesting, beautiful even. Maybe because it's so mystesrious. When it comes to gameplay you can just simply focus on expanding your base, achieving milestones, making sure you have enough resources and everyone's happy, that you're prepared for natural disasters etc. During standard mode there is some kind of story, which makes you react in certain ways, which is alright. There are also short challenges which are okay, not really that challenging, but you need to have a proper plan in order to complete them. They can also help you make sure your base is as efficient as possible which can help in standard playthroughs. It's really worth it on sale. The amount of hours I was able to put into it and the fun I had make the game good. I'm looking forward to getting a DLC (when it's on sale).
It's an excellent mix of metroidvania and platformer. Even despite it being quite short (around 12 hours to beat the game with 100% competition) I'm giving it 5 stars, but only because I got the game on sale. There are some minor bugs and imperfections which do not spoil the game at all but are not making the game worth its full price, especially with its short length, sadly. There are many references to some retro games and pop-culture, which is a very nice and welcomed touch and what makes me look into other games of this developer (already beat SteamWorld Dig 1 and will be getting SteamWorld Quest: The Hand of Gilgamech for sure). You can also find a good amount of good humour in here. Overall the game is fun and nice to play, quite casual I would say, with some optional places, that will put your logical thinking and skills to a test, especially the trials at the end of the game which I really enjoyed! Also, reminded me of first Rayman when it comes to its colourfulness. Worth it, but get it on sale. You won't regret it :)
It took me 10 hours to beat the game and I can say that I enjoyed the experience. There are some annoying flaws and lazy design choices, but they don't spoil the gameplay imo. It's quite simple at default setting, gonna try the harder setting as well, which should provide another 8 hours of gameplay. There's no tutorial whatsoever, so you've got to figure things on your own, which is not that hard. The game encourages trial and error approach. Can recommended it, but only on sale.
The only thing I will remember after finishing this game is how unnecessarily hard it was. The difficulty spikes were ruining the game for me, where I had to repeat a certain section over and over again just to make progress. Because of that, the ending is just "meh". Soundtrack is amazing, that's without a doubt. As well as visuals - it's a great looking game, beautiful even. It took my only 8 hours to finish the game, which is way to short for the amount of money I paid, even on sale. I was hyped for the first 2 hours - the world, the story - it all felt great. But the difficulty spikes, as mentioned in many other reviews, ruin the gameplay and overall experience. Hence the harsh 2 stars. Sadly, I can't recommend this game.
Great game! There's so much that can be said about it, but the best thing you can do, it's just try it, you're not gonna regret it! "Tough but fair combat" - absolutely true. Takes some time to master the moves, but when you do, you feel the satisfaction and pride connected with improving your skills. It took me around an hour to beat the game for the first time BUT it took around 12 hours to get to that point, where I can beat it. And that's the easiest difficulty. There are 5 more, each one more diffcult than the other, so it will take you some (a lot) time to truly beat the game. But the journey is more important. You have to learn from your mistakes, explore the best builds and paths you choose. And there's also the sense of humour. I was laughing so hard after I finish the game for the first time because of one simple thing developers did with the credit scene. And there are many easter eggs and references to other games (like Hollow Knight) which brighten your run. I find myself playing run after run just because I made a stupid mistake and I just can't let it go like that, so be careful, as the game is really addictive! The gameplay is fast paced, but the progression (collecting blueprints for different weapons and skills) takes some time. Even if you die, but manage to reach a checkpoint, the death is not so bad, as you did progress a little bit further. And of course the value of learning from your mistakes is probably the most important thing. Try it!
The best game in Rayman franchise. Even after all those years the difficulty is high enough to keep you playing for decent amount of hours, although the whole game is not that long. Still, if you haven't tried it before it's a must play! Soundtrack - one of best in the history of games. Along with Bastion and Hollow Knight. In my humble opinion ofc :) The gameplay is very interesting and each location has it's own surprises. I'm amazed how much thought have been put into the design of the levels. That's a high standard even for 2019. Try it. You'll love it.
I was very excited about playing game from creators of Primordia but was quite disappointed in the end. It's a good game but doesn't have a depth and complexity that will make me play it again. The ending was also disappointing, there were some plot twists but nothing that will make you really surprised and excited. I also didn't feel like my choices matter that much. I think there were only 2-3 moments where it was possible to make a choice, but it was near the end of the game. Other than that, game basically guides you step by step on the path that creators wanted you to go. Whole game feels too short, like they didn't explore some aspects enough. I think I finished it in 3-4 hours. Music is really good, that's the strongest aspect of the game. Graphics - very good. It really feels like a post-apocalyptic world. I can only recommend it on sale. If I was about to pay full price for this game, I would feel simply cheated. It's harsh, but that's the truth.
Uff, this game is hard. I somehow managed to beat as a child, and somehow I managed to beat now. There're many annoying bugs or areas to complete, but overall it's worth it. It's very short, but if you played it as a child, you will play it just to beat it one more time - to prove to yourself that you can :)
