I have played all the classical RPGs (like Baldur's Gate 1,2 and 3, Icewind Dale 1 and 2, Planescape Torment, Diablo and whatever else crosses your mind), but this one is hands down the best. Wonderful 2D graphics (3D dungeons are MEH, but not obnoxious or annoying), awesome gameplay, unique world, detailed characters, original story... I have pretty much nothing bad to say. I played it for the first time in 1998 and ever since I replay it every couple of years and I am never disappointed. Nuff said :D
