Hitman 2: Silent Assassin

It has not aged as well as I remembered

Bought it for nostalgia, sadly, this game has aged like fine milk. As a fan of stealth games and the Hitman series I remember liking this one a lot when I was younger, but expectations and nostalgia didn't help on this one. AI is so inconsistent that it is often more frustrating than fun, enemies bug constantly and can get hostile for no reason and also have the ability to see you even when you are at their backs for no reason, Agent 47 moves so slow as well (if you don’t want to get caught by making noise) that sometimes doing a silent kills need multiples attempts and it is just so annoying. Most levels have really only one simple solution for advancing the objectives and can get quite linear and some need so much trial and error that I question how I liked it so much when I was younger. I can see how it was praised when it came out in 2002, graphics, soundtrack and some stealth mechanics are really neat, especially taking in context when the game came out, but as it is today it just feels clunky and unpolished. It still has some standout levels here and there and the Hitman DNA can still be felt, sadly, IO Interactive were still trying to figure out the game mechanics and systems with this one and the results in this day and age are not satisfying, at least no to me.
