Cloudpunk: Ultimate Edition

All about the atmosphere and dialogue!

I own the game in another platform the name of which I shall not pronounce and the only reason I am writing this review is because I found the only review here misleading. Cloudpunk is from an indie developer and is a quirky experience that in fact is strongest in it's dialogue and writing. The voice acting is acceptable, certainly indie quality, but very spot on for the atmosphere it aims to build. The writing is masterful, every character contributes to fueling a dystopian sci-fi city that has lost it's humanity so much that artificial intelligence is actually more humane. You will have to explore your way through Nivalis and get to know it's "people" which will put you in interesting and sometimes unexpected situations - all of those very well tightened together by the creatively crafted modernistic issues of the inhabitants. The only aspect in which the developer fails with Cloudpunk in my opinion is in it's choice of voxel art approach towards building the game. The very obviously very well thought-out design of Nivalis would have greatly benefited from a much more softer brush drawing touch which could have pronounced even better the dystopian feeling of the atmosphere in the game. Again this is mostly from a personal preference point of view. Overall, Cloudpunk is a must for sci-fi fans and a good atmospheric experience that will make for a good future franchise if the devs invest their time into expanding the capabilities of their team.
