Gameplay: Just like in the Professor Layton games you talk to people, move around in a Point&Click style way and solve puzzles. The puzzles themselves are overall quite nice and not too easy, however I had a few problems with the description of some puzzles since they felt too cryptic. Nothing major, but I think it shouldn't go unnoticed. At the end of a puzzle you recieve a rating based on the amount of wrong answers you gave and hints you needed. It creates an interesting pressure on the player to solve the puzzle right on the first try to get the best score. However a good rating is not mandatory to advance in the story. Story: Since I don't want to spoil the story I'll try to not go into detail. In my opinion it's pretty good. Throughout the whole game I really wanted to know the truth behind the mystery of the factory and the creepy red gnomes that nobody seems to be willing to talk about. At no point in the game was I bored by the story since it has a rather fast pacing. It's not a spectacular story, but one that suits a puzzle game like this really well and creates a great sense of mystery. However the game is rather short (4-6h) and it does end on a cliffhanger. The story does continue really well in the second game, but I can't shake the feeling the games should have been merged together into one longer game from the start. Graphics & Sound: The animation and sound design is great in my opinion. The graphics give the game a very unique feel and the background sounds and music create a sense of mystery and even creepiness (these damn gnomes >.<). I heard some people dislike the visual style of the game, but in the end it's up to your own personal taste. Conclusion: This game is well worth the price. It has a few flaws, but the overall it is a great experience and I had a blast playing through it!
I played through the game a while about half year ago. It sat for months in my library and I decided to finally give it a try, since I had good experiences with Deadalic games before. Since the main idea of the plot revolves around the destruction of our ecosystem, I wen't in expecting a very preachy story. But to my suprise the game didn't go this route, atleast not as much as I had expected. (Not to say the game is wothout though) The whole way through the game I wanted to know how the story will continue, what will happen next. And when the credits were rolling down my screen I felt very glad for finally picking up this game. The backgrounds look great an the graphics style is appealing. Atleast the german voice acting was very good too, although I heard that the english voices were a bit of a let down. Another great thing is the exceptional Soundtrack, that really delivers the emotions. Many tracks evoke a melancholic feeling and really fit the scenes. Though for all the great things there is ofcourse a reason this is only a 4/5 rating. The game (I played the Humble Bundle version) was extremly unstable at launch and had some technical problems. Most of them got fixed with the Final Cut, but the game crashed 2-3 times for me. Some of the comic-style cutscene panels were in the wrong language, while the audio was correct. Though this only happened very rarely I think it is worth mentioning. The characters are not as great as the story itself, but not really a letdown either. I personally liked the male protagonist, but I really disliked the female counter-part at the beginning. Although I changed my opinion later down the line, she is not my favourite. The puzzles a bit of a mixed bag. Some were a bit far fetched and I encountered a bug in one of them. I have seen worse in other games, they are not the highlight though. In the end I can only say that I really enjoyed my journey and I would recommend, giving this game a try. =)
I had and still have allot of Fun with this game. You can aim very good with Keyboard + Mouse aswell als Controller and the controls are simpel and intuitive. But what exactly makes this game stand out? First thing...the physics. This game got nice water, fire, lava, ice and gas physics that definitly reminded me of the mobile game "Where is my Water?". When Lava hits water the lava cools down, lava melts through ice etc. The physics are not hardcore realistic but they are fun to paly around with and also easy to understand for younger gamers. The second thing about this game and what is actually my favourite aspect is the variety. Every level (Each one takes about 15-20 minutes) has something new to offer. In one level they introduce the gas. Than you learn that you can burn it. Later you use this to melt ice that is blocking your way and so on. Every level brings something new to discover and in combination with the cool physics it is extremly motivating. Also there is local Co-op which is really cool, aswell as a good number of secrets. All in all I highly recommend this game. I picked it up for 2,69$ in a sale and I would buy it again at anytime! (Smll note: English is not my main language so I hope you don't mind some grammaical mistakes or my bad writing style ^^)
