I was pretty excited when I purchased this game, I grew up on the nes and figured this would tie in nicely with some of those 80s retro feels. Boy was I wrong! I don't hate this game but it seems to be very poorly made. I am not certain where I should be going or what I should be doing and EVERYTHING wants to kill me. What has this young kid done to invoke the anger of all these...these...creatures and objects of death? I will likely give it another go sometime but to be honest it is pretty off putting for me to feel so utterly lost in a video game. I feel the controls are sloppy and you just have to get used to going in circles saying what do I do now? Follow the arrow I guess. Maybe it would help if I knew what the story was or what the objective is here. I have no clue I just go around saving dogs I think? From what I assume to be a horrible fate! It is not clear to me. After maybe 40 mins to an hour of sloppy controls god awful audio playing constantly I shut it off and pondered my life. Has it all be in vain? No clearly this just isn't the game for me and I should look elsewhere for my retro fix. They clearly tried here, but I am sorry this doesn't cut it for me.
This game is short and does not do much for me outside of the nice artwork. I find it to be overly hard just simply to force you to play through it more than once. The screen is too close which normally I would complain about the screen being too zoomed out in games...however in this game you are constantly getting hit by objects coming from off screen. It's super annoying. Bottom line is there just isn't much content to sink your teeth into. Not worth what I paid for it! If its 1 to 3$ maybe try it out any higher? I would pass.
This game seems to have some meh reviews and I am not sure why. I got it on sale and it was cheap so perhaps that has helped my enjoyment of the game. It is a simple beat em up with a lite rpg mix to it. I found the characters and their unique talents to be fun. I like the murdering clown the best. His dark humor talent matches my own character trait and I thought it was quite funny that I picked a character with 'dark humor'. All this really does is allow him to heal for more hp each tick but still it got a laugh from me. I played this with my wife as a coop game and found it to be a fun way to kill a half hour or so before moving on to something else. At the time of writing this we have nearly beaten the game and I see no major issues with it. I will say I do have to always turn on full screen when I start the game up and I find that to be annoying. I wish it would stay turned on but it does not for whatever reason. You can replay levels grind XP and raise talents to match your play style. If your a fan of river city ransom this may be a game for you. As long as you don't expect too much from it I believe you will find it enjoyable !
I had an Atari 5200 when I was a kid, it wasn't actually mine it was abandoned by one of my uncles. I found it as a child in my grandmother's house and quickly figured out how to hook it up and play it. I had super breakout and centipede for the console. I am happy that both of those games are on this collection. Of course outside of a want for games I remember as a small child, the 2600 games are clearly the draw for most people and I agree they are very good. I have never been a big Atari guy but with this collection I have been able to very much so enjoy their consoles and games. I wasn't sure of buying this at first because I wasn't sure that I would play it much. I am happy to report that it is a favorite in my house. My wife and I find ourselves playing the various games quite a bit. I even enjoy tracking my personal best scores and trying to beat them. Yes the games are simple. Yes not all of them are 'winners', but I feel for the asking price it is worth it. I took one star off simply because It doesn't have some games on it I think of when I think Atari such as space invaders. Probably a rights issue there so not too big of an issue. Overall I am very excited to see Atari on the gog platform and I look forward to their next release. As a side note...the jaguar games shocked me a bit. I actually enjoyed a few of them beyond what I expected.
If your a survival fan you will enjoy this game. Its hard. Its annoying. Its fun. Nab was as of yet my most bad ass monkey yet. He shall be remembered for all time for his war against the sabertooth. You have to take it slow with this game. Your gonna get confused. Be unsure. Die. Etc. Just relax and enjoy the game. Thats the point of it imo. Just like a survival sandbox game. I got it on sale and man I am hooked... Cant stop playing it now. I get so aggro at it then have to walk away and come back after a youtube break and a snack. This is the type of game devs should be making not that FPS garbage they love to pump out. This was made for hardcore gamers...brutal deadly world and they dont help you much. Learn to grow. Grow to love. And remember take care of your clan. They are your life!
My first Fallout game, was Fallout 3. I know some people consider that a sin to gaming itself...but it's the truth. When I got myself on to GOG and saw the old fallout games here, I said to myself 'it's time to give the older games a go'. I have no regrets. I have been in love with fallout since that faithful day I played FO3 on my PS3 back in 2008 I believe? I've played all the others put 100s of hours into them, and now it's Fallout's turn. At first I admit it, I was having a bit of a hard time getting used to the very different method of control and such. At first it seemed my characters were all getting rekt, but finally I did figure it out. Seems it's a bit different even how the skills work here than in Fo3. Even during my time of 'trial and error' I was still into the game. The story telling was great. The vibe felt right...and the music is top notch. I will say one thing I disliked was the time limit you are given in game, it can seem overwhelming at first, but it's not as bad as it seems. Once you get the hang of it you can handle it no problem. Great game. If you like Fallout games trust me, it may control different and be 'old' but it's still a Fallout game! Fallout games are fun regardless of their age.
I played this game when I was a child on my parents computer, it's been at LEAST over 20 years ago. I remember it though, we had the freeware version at the time I am sure. When I saw this game on GOG I passed it by at first due to the price, however during the summer sale I snatched it up! If you like mario kart clones then this is a very good one. It's simple and childish, because I am just taking a wild guess here...but it was likely marketed to children at the time. I still had fun playing it as a full grown adult in his 30s so judge me all you want, I liked it! Graphics of course are old but it works right out of the box, and I found it an overall good time. I like Sultan...he's my favorite! The characters and tracks all offer something interesting, at least to me. For what they are asking during the summer sale it's worth the price and a good time. If you have children of your own, this should amuse them nicely I believe.
