The vast majority of the initial issues with Spacer's Choice edition have been resolved and the game runs and plays fine now (Jan 2024). It's The Outer Worlds, just with enhanced visuals (better is subjective - nights on Monarch are horrible) and some fixes. Also seems to run a bit better than the original title, in its current state. Won't win any game of the decade prizes - story is serviceable, humour is decent, gameplay is alright and the included DLCs add some more things to do and places to explore. Replayability value... there is some, but not like certain other games. All in all, it's a decent game that doesn't exactly excel at anything. If you want to explore a space/sci-fi universe with some elements that may make one think of Fallout NV (though definitely not as good), give it a try. As the slogan says, it's not the best choice, it's Spacer's Choice!
I remember picking this up on Steam a long time ago, after a friend played it and recommended it as a cheap, interesting game. It may win no prizes and fall a bit short in terms of replayability value, but it's definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for an action-oriented adventure game with a slightly different setting/concept. It's great to see it's back among the living! At a low price, I'd say give it a go - For free, it's a no-brainer!
