Rise to Ruins

Very good, but not a "forever game" atm.

To start of: This is a good game and I totally enjoyed my time with it. You will probably too for 5, 10, 15 hours. The game looks very cool, the village building is a nice, escalating challenge with more and more stuff and people to care for. However, after you lost your first, failed village, you will probably manage your second village for an ingame year, start to spread out through the island and realize... that is pretty much all there is atm (if not than it is hidden well). As far as I can tell, there are no differences between regions (besides layout), no different challenges. Basically once you have one successful village, I think you have pretty much seen it all. Don't get me wrong: The path there is fun and I probably only bemoan this because the game gives you a whole continent to settle on and you might be done after using 2 or 3 regions. There are also a few interface problem and generally unclear game mechanics. For example, I had villagers die of dehydration and I could not figure out why (I had water, fountains and bottles galore). So in total: Very cool village builder, defintly worth the asking price and if you like these style of games, you will probably enjoy this one... also my critique might be totally obsolete in a year if the game keeps expanding, who knows.

Pretty good modern Dungeon Crawler

Pretty good game, I'd say about on par with Grimrock 1. The game is not too long, but about the perfect length for the content. While the game is very fun in the beginning, it does start to become a bit stale as the environment does not change much and you are only controlling one character. While the art style is nice, it doesn't really sell the idea of a giant tower as you are always confined to insides without windows or anything to sell you the idea. The story is okay, but the voice actors are a bit hit and miss. This may sound a bit more negative than it is: The game is a fun dungeon crawling experience which you kinda don't get otherwise. Everything works and the puzzles and combat are fun. So overall, definitly recommended if you have played Grimrock and/or like a nifty Steampunk aesthetic.
