Cyberpunk 2077

I enjoyed my experience

Reviewer Summary 1. Played 100 hours. 2. Completed the main campaign. 3. Completed large number of side quests. There were still many side quests and gigs I decided not to complete as I was looking for closure at this point. Pros 1. Graphics are amazing with a good PC. 2. The game world is beautiful and teaming with ambience. Busy streets contain lots of high quality pedestrians, vagrants, advertisements, buskers, police scenes, gangs ruffing people up, slums and trash laying about, high-rises, city food carts, music, people talking, etc. 3. The characters you come across have fascinating backgrounds that make you want to you learn more about them, their lives, where they're going, how things will pan out. 4. Combat/gameplay is OK, but becomes increasingly easy and boring (see cons). 5. If you're a movie and game connoisseur, you will be pleasantly surprised at the number of references in the game. Cons 1. While I enjoyed the various characters and story arcs, overall it felt incomplete. There should have been more development with your story paths and the characters you bond with to feel like you're part of something real. On some occasions I felt disconnected with the story and character development. 2. Some side activities are repetitive and lack purpose. 3. The game is not balanced. Player levelling and power scales exponentially. You'll reach a point of god-like status and combat becomes boringly easy. 4. Skill levelling is slow and not in sync with story progression. 5. Crafting is incomplete and cumbersome (ie: RNG). Final There are few games that hold a special place with me. The emotion, the characters, the detail, the experience, the presentation, the music. Most of this game comes together to create a memorable single player experience. It's not perfect and it has its flaws, though not as many as the net would have you believe. Overall I'm happy to have experienced the Cyberpunk 2077 universe and I would recommend the game to others.

Transport Fever 2

A Simple & Fun Simulation Game

Transport Fever 2 is a game that I would say caters more to people that are interested in building and watching their own "tabletop" creations rather than looking for a deep and complex simulation. Building rail networks and watching trains noodle their way around, watching jet planes take off and land, or watching a 16 wheeler travel the country side. It's certainly entertaining in that regard, but I find it just makes me more attracted to playing other games that specialize in those areas. Like Factorio for a more deep and complex production and train simulation, or MS Flight Sim for aviation, or American/Euro Truck Simulator to drive around the country. Overall I would say this game worth getting if you don't mind a simpler experience (less busy-work). Pros: 1. Good graphics, sound, and music to keep you engaged. 2. A wide variety of vehicles to chose from. 3. Fun and simple game once you learn the ropes. 4. Has a campaign to teach you the fundamentals, but it's a bit light on details. 5. Decent road & rail editor with good snapping. Cons: 1. Not a deep or complex simulation game if that's what you're looking for. 2. Factory production uses a controlled model of supply and demand. Rather than factories continuously produce and stockpile, this game only produces when a link is setup with a consumer and it will only produce enough product per transport run to satisfy the consumer. This takes getting use to if you come from other games like Banished, Factorio, Anno Series, X-series, etc. 3. Vehicles unlock at certain dates and become unpurchasable once their production expire. This hurts your ability to build how you want and you're always forced to purchase the more expensive options. 4. The game doesn't do a good job at explaining problems. I often had to google to understand certain things, most of which solutions came from similar problems in their first game. 5. Game balancing needs to be tuned. Lots of boring AFK'ing in the early years.

Offworld Trading Company

Fun game, but could be so much more

-= The Short =- This game offers a simple, yet fun economic battleground that's worth picking up when on sale. Although it comes with questionable DLC, I would at least recommend picking up the patron and the patriot DLC to expand on the features of the single player campaign, which is where this game shines best. -= Similar Games =- I think of OTC as a lightweight version of Anno 2070 and Anno 2205. Straight into the economic battle with none of the logistics. If you're looking for something more complex, check those other two titles out (note: they require UPlay). -= The Good =- 1. The single player campaign is what I find the most fun. You start off by choosing a CEO with a set of strengths and weaknesses, then win matches to earn money and buy upgrades. It gives you a sense of progression. 2. Musical score fits well with the game. -= The Average =- 1. Graphics and animations are good. 2. Matches are roughly 30 minutes long with a focus on rush tactics. The kind of game that you pop open, play a quick round, then move on. 3. Multiplayer support, but the GoG version lacks custom lobbies and co-op (not a big deal IMO). 4. Economy simulation is sufficient, but buggy. Oxygen, food, and fuel seem to always provide the best return on investment. 5. AI gives a decent challenge. -= The Poor =- 1. Sounds and voice acting is a bit low quality. Could use polish. -= Conclusion =- Personally I would have liked something with more progression and personal ownership of my company. Had this game focused more on large scale, taking Mars piece by piece, helping build colonies and supply routes in real-time across the planet, all the while defending your company from competition, dealing with natural disasters and relief, hostile takeovers, etc. I think that sort of game would have been an amazing experience, especially in an online environment where 16+ players compete for economic dominance. Nevertheless, this is a fun game to try out and experience something different.
