Jazzpunk: Director's Cut

Having a blast

I haven't finished the game yet, but I'm having such a good time with it I wanted to go ahead and leave my 2 cents before I forget. I had never heard of or seen this game at all, got it on a whim because it looked unique, the trailer piqued my interest, and it was on sale for $3.74. I am so glad I got it, I've been non-stop cracking up since I began. It's bizarre, it's got satire, it's got parodies (of some of my favorite movies no less!), it's got puns for friggin days, and it's absolutely loaded with little easter eggs and tid bits to find which makes exploration very rewarding. The feeling of walking around enjoying all the gags and set pieces reminds me a lot of The Simpsons: Hit & Run. I think the humor might be a bit niche, but if it hits your spot it's gonna hit it real good, especially if you're a tech nerd. I was really surprised at all the minigames you can find, none of it is GOTY material or anything but they're fun and help break-up the monotony of just walking between jokes. There's even little side quests to find in the levels. These extras were not needed for this type of game, I didn't expect them when I realized what kind of game I was playing, and that just makes their inclusion all the better. There's even a little multiplayer TDM game in there!! The one and only complaint I have is that I've been experiencing some bugs using my controller: some buttons seem to swap functions depending on the context, like Square and X swap during some minigames, and then revert while walking around. Sometimes they even switch between each sub-menu while Paused, like X will select Options, but then back out of the Options menu itself. I'm using a PS4 Controller by way of DS4, so this may just be something on my end, not the fault of the game. And it's still totally playable, so no biggie. Overall loving the experience, and I highly recommend it!
