I purchased this game on sale a few years back when it was on sale. I've heard good things about it and I enjoy immersive single-player games with good stories so it wasn't a difficult choice. I spent the next 17 hours (in several sections) on a pants-soiling, anxiety inducing gameplay that I have not ever experienced in my lifetime. I've played many survival horror gems, like Resident Evil 0-4, Dino Crisis, the Thing, the Evil Within, etc. and Dead Space easily surpasses them all in terms of gameplay, sound, music, story, and atmosphere. You can tell the amount of effort that went into this game to make it as polished as possible and it has aged tremendously well in that regard; I actually bought a used physical copy for my Xbox to play it on my tv on a bigger screen and play it once a year to relive that nightmarish horror. I've yet to find a game that I replay that often. All in all, to keep it short, (I could write a novel on how much I've enjoyed this game and the lore behind it) this is truly a phenomenal game that I will never get tired of replaying.
