The Little Acre

short adventure game with great artwork

While seasoned adventure gamers will find the puzzles in this game far too easy, i still don't regret buying it. First of all, both the animation and the voice acting are great. Also, as it's quite a short game (it took me well under two hours to finish) which makes it a perfect little game you can play through in one evening. I doubt even people who have never played an adventure game before will need much more than three hours to finish. The overall story and feel reminds me of 80s and 90s hand drawn non-Disney feature films. Childish at times but still fun enough for an adult to enjoy. I only wished that the developers would have taken more time to flesh out some of the characters. Especially the back story of Murr could have been elaborated on.

Silence Demo

Too little content even for a Demo

I've long complained, that the age of pre-release demos seems to be over and that this is very unfortunate for the consumer. Now we get one, and I'm still not satisfied. The reason for that is, that we barely get to see any gameplay. There are a few item combinations, all hinted at by some kind of assistance system that changes the cursor as soon as an action will further the plot, as well as a kind of quick time event. And thats it. Most of the unreasonably large download consists of cut scenes both fmv and in engine. I sincerely hope that the game will actually get some meaningful gameplay later on, otherwise it will be little more than a "klick here to advance plot" kind of thing. But the demo is far to short to know that, wich is a shame and makes the demo far less useful in aiding with a purchase decision that it should be.
