This game desperately needs a fix for macOS gamers! Wish I could've written a better review about actual gameplay, but the game fails to load. Users on the forum have been complaining about this issue for OVER A YEAR now and still nothing has been done! DO NOT BUY this game if you plan to play it on the Mac.
Limbo is a charming world full of intrigue, mystery and tension. A boy in the woods looking for his sister is all that is revealed about the narrative. You have no idea how he got there, or who or what is out to get him. The dark, brooding, monochromatic atmosphere is evident from the very first scene and carries on throughout the game. The game's sound design and minimal soundtrack helps immerse you in its eerie setting. The gameplay is simple but engaging thanks to the clever puzzles you encounter throughout the game. Though at times challenging, the game's frequent checkpoints keep the focus on the enjoyment of solving the puzzles, avoiding the frustration of having to re-do an entire level when you die. Speaking of dying, the first time you see the boy die, it is kind of jarring. As different hazards are introduced throughout the game, however, it becomes almost as thrilling, in a morbid sort of way, to see the boy meet his gruesome end, as it is to see him overcome his challenges. Overall, the game is a brilliantly designed puzzle/platform game that has the draw to appeal to gamers that are not typically fans of the genre.
