This game could have been a real gem if only the developers had hired a professional story teller and implemented a reasonable gameplay. The basics are all there - an interesting character development system, nice graphics, interesting maps and backgrounds. Once you are going through your first missions however things start to get frustrating pretty soon. Not only are you struggling through endless ridiculous and nondescript dialogs. What is far worse is that the gameplay is completely unbalanced. The skill and crafts system is pretty useless and simply a waste of time and effort. Especially in the beginning you need to collect even the smallest piece of trash to get some money to be able to buy the most basic equipment. Practically all encounters, random ones in particular are a certain death ride especially in the beginning. While you are happy to have found an advanced knife to improve your chances in a fight, enemies you enocunter are already wearing balistic armor and are armed to the teeth with assault rifles, shotguns, grenades and other high level weapons that let them blow you out in a second and from a kilometer away. Your skills to go out of their way are of course not good enough. Did I mention that they are always comming in superior numbers ? Even during later stages of the game challenges are often overwhelming. You never have a feeling of developing your character into a more competent adventurer. The story line itself starts in a rather intriguing way only to drop down into a completely ridiculous joke towards the end ... Any potential successor needs serious improvments ...
While the game contains some interesting features like leading your own support teams it really falls behind in comparison with the Call of Duty series. The scenarios are extremely linear and the scenery very much reduced thereby often looking like a badly arranged stage without props. During the game you are always outnummbered, outgunned and mostly in an unfavorably strategic position. This is still acceptable to a certain point because once you master leadership and efficient deployment of your teams those obstacles can be overcome. It is very annoying though when you are literally counting your bullets while enemies are raining you with shells all the time. This is even more unnerving because is almost impossible to shoot enemies at a distance and most of them need several hits to go down. Sometime they are only a few meters away and even though you are using the aim mode you completely fail to hit. This is unreal ... did those developers ever test the gameplay ? What really drives you away however is that you cannot save your progress. Especially in very difficult parts of a map you fail quite often and then need to start the entire scenario again from the beginning of the last checkpoint. Not recommended ... No real improvement compared with its predecessor
