Silent Hill 4: The Room is a game I've been wanting to play for a while now, but due to glitches in the PS2 emulator and the Xbox version not being as good as the PS2 version, I didn't want to emulate them or buy the physical copies since they go for 100-200+ usd. I knew there was a PC port of the game along with Silent Hill 2 and 3, but I was hoping someone would do a fan "remaster" on the same level of the Silent Hill 2 enhanced edition. Well, after hearing that Silent Hill 4 was on the PC, I decided to do some digging to see how the PC version held up to the PS2 version and I saw that it was an OK port but had the same issues as the Xbox version, so I kinda put that game on the back burner for a bit. I later found out that in 2025 gog came out with 2 new patches that fixed alot of the issues and re-added all the missing content and pretty much did the fan "remaster" I was looking for, so now I can easily say that until Konami gives Silent Hill 4 the remake treatment that silent hill 2 has gotten and soon silent hill 1 that as of now the best way to play the og version of silent hill 4 is on PC through GoG. I'd like to thank the people at GoG for preserving old games for PC, since one of the main reasons I play on PC is that there will never be a PC 2, so if I want to play a game from 1994, I can. I just need to work to get it to run, but Gog takes all the hassel out of playing old games and gives me a way to buy them so that if they're no longer sold, I don't have to resort to buying old CDs/dvds off of ebay or downloading them from a sketchy internet archive / abandonware site.
