Giving Diablo anything less than 5 stars feels criminal. It redefined, if not outright invented, an entire genre. While ARPGs and the video game industry have come a long way since, Diablo 1 is not just an historical artifact. I feel it entirely holds up today, and would argue modern games still have a lot they can learn from the classic.
