DREDGE

Relaxing Horror

This is a chill game about fishing with a sinister undertone. You take the role of a fisherman embarking on a voyage to an island town that had put a notice calling for an experienced angler. As you arrive, things take a turn for the worse and soon you find yourself going out to sea to repay your lease of a fishing boat. The main gameplay loop consists of catching fish to sell for profit, allowing you to upgrade your vessel. The fishing itself consists of a rhythm minigame which is fun and varied for each type of fish. The other part of the game consists of investigating mysterious events that have befallen the archipelago where the town is located. You will see mysterious lights, ghost ships and more at night. Overall, a very fun and surprisingly relaxing experience.

Prey

It will freak you out

Picture a retrofuturistic, 60s inspired System Shock 2 and this is what you would get. I've barely scratched the surface of this game, but the feeling of paranoia and being jumped by Mimics is unmatched. Add to that a fantastic, slow burn story and you get an excellent game.

Pillars of Eternity

Excellent CRPG

This game is an obvious love letter to classic CRPG titles like Baldur's Gate, proudly wearing its influences on its sleeve. This means that the game has many systems whose interplay is what results in an interesting gameplay loop. The setting is reminiscent of Baldur's Gate as well in some respects, but with different and original races inhabiting it. The lore is deep and fleshes the world out very well. Overall, a game well worth playing.
