GWENT: The Witcher Card Game

2 years of beta testing for nothing...

I'm mostly just writing this because the r/Gwent subreddit is trying to brigade people into giving positive reviews and this game really doesn't deserve them. I've been playing pretty regularly since closed beta, didn't really like it, but once they made the changes in the switch to open beta I absolutely loved this game and it quickly became my favorite card game. I got a little annoyed when they kept making major changes every couple months, basically causing people to re-learn the game every time, but I'd always adapt and continued playing and having fun. However, this "Upgrade" to Homecoming is one change that I cannot get over. They scrapped almost everything we've been testing in the past 2 years of beta and made a completely new game that has nothing to do with the "quirky little tavern game" that original Gwent was. Now it's laying basic cards that either boost or damage on a battlefield with 3-D models grunting at each other. And the worst part is even after supposedly taking the game "out of beta", they are still making major reworks to the game's mechanics and continue to prove that they just don't know what they are doing when it comes to balancing a live, multiplayer card game. CDPR is still one of the best when it comes to single player experiences, I"ll always love Witcher 3 and look forward to any future Witcher projects and trying the Cyber Punk game when it comes out, however they've shown with Gwent and now Homecoming that they don't know what they're doing with any other genre of game. They should just stick with what they are good at.
