This was great! Short but truly unique journey through a world of wonder. The art style is beautiful and the mechanics just keep you wanting to explore. The only thing that could be better IMHO is the storytelling - while I loved the fact that it unveils without words, leaving much to your imagination, in the end I felt a bit disappointed by the fact that I wasn't really able to "decipher" what was this all about. It leaves you with nothing but a few hints about the main protagonist and his story, leaving you wondering whether this was his dream, his memories or part both... Still, I'd really recommend this to anyone looking for a non-violent, relaxing pastime (it does hint on some darker themes but it's still mostly kid-friendly).

This game is the essence of gameplay over complexity and I love it - it's actually quite amazing how fun and dynamic the fights can be despite the player being restricted to only two buttons. However, there is a serious bug which makes it impossible to win 100 % of the stages - some of them get stuck at certain enemy count (it's always the same for a particular stage) without more enemies coming in (e.g. you see there's 22 enemies left but nothing ever happens, forcing you to quit the stage without finishing it). Restarting the game doesn't help either. It's quite rare (maybe 1 in 20 stages suffer from this) but still pretty annoying as it prevents a completionst run (I haven't finished the game yet so I can't tell if it actually prevents you from finishing the game completely like one other user mentions in their review). Anyway, you can still have quite a lot of fun with this game as it is - just be warned that you're basically buying a PUBLIC BETA, not a finished, properly tested and patched game.
It's nice visually but that's about it. Only 12 fighters to choose from (with some being clearly OP) so it gets boring quickly. And don't even get me started on the story mode - the "quality" of writing is like an adult visual novel (without the adult part). Maybe I'm just too old for this...

Having enjoyed the old school Street Fighter / Mortal Kombat games, I was hoping for a modern take on the concept minus the over the top gore of MK franchise. Well, maybe there is actually a solid fighting game at the core of KOF. Sadly, I was not able to enjoy it because I couldn't get over how cheap the character design and animation feels. Especially the female "fighters" are just ridiculous. They're either completely annoying or trying so hard to be "sexy" that they move like they're not fighters but strippers instead. Even the idle poses (when you're not doing anything and your character should just keep some sort of fighting stance) are just WTF on so many of them (e.g. the devs weren't happy with just giving one of the characters huge boobs in a revealing outfit but her boobs also constantly SWING around on their own). I got this on a sale for less than 10 bucks and it still feels way overpriced - in fact, this is the second time I'm ever requesting a refund (with over 300 games in my library). Disappointing...

Just download the Rainbow Filter mod (the fact that it's not included with the game by default really is about the only downside as it's absolutely essential - without it, sorting through items can be a tedious chore) and enjoy! The ammount of customization of each build is just crazy and the fact that it's still getting updates and expansions (another major DLC is coming in 2024!) speaks a lot about how much the devs care about making this game perfect! Just a heads-up - treat the base game as trial version and buy the expansions ASAP if you like it. Not only do they expand the story and add new content but the quality of life upgrades like Illusionist (included with Forgotten Gods) AND new classes are an absolute game-changer!

As someone who has loved everything from Amanita Design so far (maybe with the exception of Chuchel, which was "only" good and not excellent - but I still finished it and kinda enjoyed it), Happy Game really disappointed me. I went in aware of the fact that this was going to be different and rather disturbing experience but I expected at least some class and point to it. After about 2 hours, I didn't really find any of it. It seems to be twisted and disturbing just for the sake of it - and worse, its bright colors, often used in large areas, along with overusing of flashes make it extremely aggresive and unpleasant on the eyes so even after the short time spent with HG, I was on the verge of getting a headache (or epileptic seizure - I'm not diagnosed with epilepsy BTW). I'm uninstalling this and I don't think I'll ever be coming back.

...but this is such a disgusting garbage I can't just ignore it. It's over. The "end of the world" didn't happen (despite millions of people around the world "acting irresponsibly" - read "refusing to stop living" - during this mass hysteria). So just keep your "destroying people's lives for their own good" simulator to yourself! :P

Linear? Yes. Lot of "adventure game logic" (read "kind of stupid") puzzles? Check. Annoying ammount of objects you'd like to interact with and places you'd love to explore except you can't? Indeed. Has any of it ruined my playthrough (second one, after finishing the game about 15 years ago and forgetting most of the details and puzzle solutions in the meantime)? Not really. Syberia may not be the best adventure game and it certainly isn't the most challenging one. But it has never bothered me much. Why? Because once you enter its world (and if you're willing to accept its somewhat arbitrary limitations as to what our protagonist can do and where she can go) you will soon find yourself immersed in a captivating story (with some truly touching moments) inside one of the most unique and beautiful sceneries ever seen in a video game. In this sense, its linearity and lack of options to fiddle with stuff outside the main storyline actually helps the pacing, as you'll rarely get stuck for too long even on your first playthrough. Think of it as an interactive novel and you won't be disappointed!
