Heroes of Might and Magic® 3: Complete

24 years and still fresh!

I've been coming back to HOMM3 every year and enjoying the game. With an amazing modding community, you can keep playing forever. There are new stuff coming up and planned for the game even today, and just with the existing mods and campaigns you have many thousands of hours of gameplay left with this game. If I were to take a single game with me on a desert island, even though my favourite game is probably Baldur's Gate 2, this would easily be my choice (with Dwarf Fortress a close second). 4.8/5 is too low for this.

Disco Elysium - The Final Cut

Best RPG I've ever played.

And I've been playing RPGs for 25 years now, including all of the classics. I thought that it'd be hard to dethrone my favourites, but Disco Elysium is sooo good that it blew my mind. I've had chills multiple times while playing the game and I stole time off work to play it as I couldn't put it down till I finished it. It's one of the best detective stories I've ever played, with really unique elements in character building, very deep characters to interact with, lots of political and psychological elements and a really finely crated world. If you like clever games that make you think, with deep plot, fantastic dialogues and a generous dash of surreal humour, this is the game for you. If you simply love rpgs OR detective stories OR games with psychological elements, OR games with political elements or any of the above, this game is definitely worth buying, even at full price. Honestly, I'd buy it again just to buy the devs a beer for their masterpiece. This will be a classic for MANY years to come and 20 years from now we're gonna see VR remakes of it or whatever the current trend is by that point, and we'll be getting them because that game was soo good. 5 stars is not enough of a rating for this one.

Baldur's Gate 3

Fantastic D&D game

-It's not a sequel to BG1/BG2. And it shouldn't be. Those who finished those games should know that the protagonist either ascended to godhood or retired after having done more than any adventurer could hope to achieve(reaching the point of rejecting godhood). The game seems more closely tied to the Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus 5e published campaign, and that's what it should be, relevant to current dnd material(as the originals were again part of the then current dnd world). -It's not Real Time With Pause. Although, I'd love to see such an option in the game, just like Obsidian did adding turn-based combat to their RTWP game, so that it satisfies fans of the gameplay of the originals(I'm count myself among them), remember that it's a dnd game and dnd is turn-based. It's more true to the rules than the originals were, but the originals adapted the rules in a way that made the combat feel more normal. I'm partial to the latter, but I like the turn-based choice as well. -It's like DOS2. And that's a good thing: D:OS2 is amongst the best turn-based RPGs ever made - the systems it has for interaction with the environment have been phenomenal and pushed the genre many steps forward. Taking all that experience while using a well-known and loved setting(Faerun/Sword Coast) in a well-known and loved ruleset(D&D 5e) is as good as it gets. I remember playing DOS and thinking how amazing it'd have been if it had a more dnd-flavoured ruleset. Now that it does, it feels amazing. Still, having an option for RTWP would be great, but yeah, I don't know if that's possible(I wish their engine allows it) So far, I've had some issues with my PC - the game seems to run sluggishly on my machine(it's a 5 year old laptop, though), and while it's extremely sluggish on very high graphics, taking it all the way down doesn't improve the quality as much as expected. Running out of space so I can't go into much more detail: The game so far seems great and I'm having a (sluggish) blast!
