Psychonauts is still what I consider my favorite game of all time. It isn't a "perfect game" by any stretch of the imagination but it is my favorite. The platforming can be clunky, even using a controller (how I played) and the collectables serve little to no real purpose other than mindless completionism but the characters and settings in this game REALLY shine. I guess that's kind of redundant seeing as the characters ARE the settings. The main conceit of the game is jumping into characters minds and helping them work through their personal issues. I don't think I've ever played a game that I found as generally funny and charming as I found Psychonauts and I'm glad to have played it.
