I'd missed out on Blood back in the day. Sadly, my choice of Build engine game had been Redneck Rampage. But we don't need to talk about that. Ever. Blood has a great mix of reward vs. challenge, providing a difficulty level for any player's skillset and including some of the most varied level design the late 90s could provide, especially the first two episodes. The visuals are an inspired feast, sending the player on a gothic and frequently disturbing slayride through a heavily stylized 1920s where armed cultists run rampant and horrific demons prowl the streets. There really isn't any plot because, frankly, who needs one? Just pick up your shotgun, voodoo doll, and some dynamite and get to cracking heads. I didn't have to tweak a thing to get this running smoothly and the addition of the expansions added extra value to an already great game. Just keep this ghoulish cocktail out of the hands of the kiddies. It's title ain't false advertising....
