The Signifier Director’s Cut Demo

Satisfactorily playable

... so test it by yourself! This demo does its job by arousing curiosity, with its first level. If you're a curious, serene person, you could try this. It's more of a walking sim/detective. The first game from an independent studio. Note: You may want to limit your frame rate (with VSync or your GPU software), as it is unlimited at launch. Game settings are minimalist. Text is multilingual, but the QWERTY layout is imposed (a minor hiccup, as the layout can be changed in your OS).

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Anniversary Edition

This RTT is gold...

It shouldn't be a gold mine, though . To date, the regular price is indeed outrageous (on Steam ALSO). Just wait for the more reasonable discounted prices (which should be every couple of months). Please note that this is the Grand Master Collection (wich include the outrageously long list of tiny DLCs). I prefer the first DoW, but this one is remarkable in its own way (more tactical than strategic).

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Anniversary Edition

LAN/GameSpy shut down globally

GameSpy online services have been shut down on 2014 (pcgamingwiki) Consequently, LAN play "Direct IP" was removed from the Gog AND Steam versions. Don't get too nervous, it's still a wonderful game. Enjoy it, for the glory of the Imperium!

Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones

Assassin of Persia

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

The hardcore one

To get a more pleasant game experience: - Take note of the widescreen fix, among other things (PCGamingWiki) - Learn about known bugs (Fandom) - Manually remap the controller - xbox one compatible (Steam guide) - If feasible, boost the colors on your monitor to the max. It's irksome, but I recommend to have a look at the walkthrough (Gamespot) mainly to not miss the well-hidden and challenging Life-upgrades (leading to the canonical ending), but also to take the best path, for those who don't like to be lost, and limit the backtracking you'll endure anyway. Orientation is tricky, the map is useless. I've heard the game is difficult. "Nonsense!" I exclaimed. Then, I chose the most difficult level. Challenge accepted. And it was... Difficult. But not awful. Old school difficulty. Gone is the immature and pretentious young prince ! I recommend this difficulty for those who will seek for Life-upgrades, understand combos (memorizing only the most useful ones) and learn about secondary weapons (very little information in the game, it's poorly done). The "tutorial" introduction is already a spike in the learning curve, as it quickly leads to a boss fight that makes you realize that you have to adapt to counteract an aggressive pattern (one could think of a forgiving Dark Souls, ahead of its time, or a 2D PoP). It might not suit everyone after the balmy tale of The Sands of Time, but Warrior Within is still a memorable sequel considering the good aspects mentioned by others, which make me forget the negatives !
