I already own Hitman, and probably won't buy the GOG version till the price drops a little. It is amusing to see the review bombing on here, most of the reviews are from users with 0 games in their library, or that do not own the game. While GOG has one of the most lenient review polices out there, I hope they start cracking down on a lot of these fake reviews. In Steam I don't believe you can review game that is not in your library, same with consoles. I get it a lot of the extra content you have to connect to the internet to use, while the base game and story are still completely DRM free. The actual game is really good, the maps are well made, and it has a very interesting campaign. I would just recommend if you are interested in this game do your own research from other sites, and see honest reviews. GOG has already stated they are looking into the problem with connecting to the internet to use the extras, so I am sure they will get it fixed. The game itself is fun, just make up your own mind,
So a little background, I have been playing the original X-Com UFO Defense by Julian Gallop since I was a kid, and it is still one of my favorite games. I have also played the Terror from the Deep, Enemy Unknown, and X-Com 2. I have enjoyed all the titles in the X-Com series, each one offers something new from augmented and machine soldiers to dealing with alien fractions. I was really excited to hear Gallop was returning to the X-Com genre. I preordered the collectors edition of this game back in 2018, where they had Julian Gallop doing a promo teaser for the game in a tunnel holding a lamp. It took a LONG time to come to GOG. But it finally did, and XSolla gave me the key I ordered years ago, along with the Festering Skies Expansion. The game is really beautiful, and plays much like the newer X-Com games from Fraxis. I really enjoy all the new features like vehicles, the free aim feature, and unique alien abilities. I didn't play it when it was first released, so I don't know anything about early bugs. I have version 1.11 and the game is a blast. Most X-Com games only have a few selection of different enemy types, so I will be excited to see what DLC they release in the future.
I was a huge fan of 3D Realms/Apogee growing up. I played almost every game they made, my favorites were Duke 3D and Rise of the Triad. It was a sad day when they lost the rights to Duke Nukem, and the Duke Forever we got was not the game we all loved. Ion Fury though brings back all the good Duke memories. I absolutely love this game, and hope that 3D realms keeps pursuing the bombshell franchise. Personally I would love to see a bunch of expansions for this game. I know that is usually not this company's style, but I seriously wouldn't change anything about this game, just want more content! Thanks for returning to your roots, this is a must buy for the old school 90s shooter fans,
