High level, the game is a side-scrolling hack and slash adventure RPG with loot. It's fun and high quality, albeit with a few issues. I beat the game and started new game + I might continue that however, I feel pretty satisfied. Seeing how the extra high-end loot develops and seeing if I can grab the extra secrets might cause me to keep playing. Would I recommend it... yes. It's cheap and I think worth the asking price. There are a few tweaks that I'd make to bring it to a near-perfect game for me however as it stands, I enjoyed it. + I loved the ability to respec + The abilities are varied and allow for some really interesting play styles + I like the art and animation + I like the sound + Platforming is mostly solid + Combat is engaging from a "Look what I can do" perspective. + Loot is fun. I enjoyed seeing how it developed. = Story is good overall. I would say it is definitely more than serviceable however it has some weak parts in my opinion such as with connections or "Why should I care?" = Difficulty is pretty meh. I felt as long as you had a basic understanding of the game and abilities you shouldn't have too much trouble. You will die from time to time. It will accommodate a lot of errors and sometimes too much. = The upgrade system is cool however, I'd rather have seen the cost tied to the number of times the item was upgraded rather than that particular vendor was utilized. The current setup makes it a little weird and punishing to experiment, especially early on. - Some abilities or effects aren't well explained. - Checkpoints. Most of them were good however there were several that just annoyed me. They were around bosses. So some were right there a moment or two away... others were several transitions away. The later ones were tedious. Thankfully I didn't have to experience it too much but when I did... I noticed the discrepancy. - Cutscenes. Some were unskippable. Overall, I am happy to own it.

Wow. This is an extremely cool puzzle game. It is lots of fun and tells an interesting story. The game itself is short but so enjoyable. The music, art, and puzzles were high quality and very engaging. Some of the puzzles were a little more ambigious than others however nothing too terrible and it doesn't detract from the entire experience. This is a small lovingly crafted game that has a potentially touching story depending on what you take away from it. Personally I think it has to do with finding joy and enduring troubling times. That we should hold onto that sense of wonder, that sense that there is something more, and pursue finding joy and solace where we can.

Just finished the game. It has a great art style, great music, good sound overall. The platforming is good, combat is fairly tight especially later game as you get more items / abilities. There are enough items that you can customize your playstyle pretty well. There are lots of little secrets and nice little touches in the game. I got about 50% in my first playthrough. There are also a good number of puzzles I didn't figure out with NPCs... It is very high quality overall. There is some backtracking which can be annoying at times but overall, not a big deal. As you get better you can traverse pretty quickly. Some boss fights I had a little trouble reading the "tells" though it could be I just didn't get the hang of it. Keyboard controls are okay, controller isn't bad either. They get the job done. I played with both. The game took me about 6-7 hours to beat. I think to 100% it, without a guide, it'd probably take me another 2-3 just to back track. Though, I think there is additional content on subsequent playthroughs. I played through on hard my first go. I'd try replying it again, so perhaps a total of 15 hours to get everything. I'd say no more than 20. Maybe. The game overall was absolutely worth my time and I highly recommend it. The game is worth full price, no questions asked. It is a high quaility, platformer-metrovania-dark souls esque- game. I love it!

This is similar to Dwarf Fortress, even being called Dwarf Fortress Lite. I bought this on a whim years ago early access on Steam, back when early access wasn't what is it now. I figured if I got a few hours out of it, great. About twenty hours in I bought my wife a copy. About forty hours in, I bought all my friends a copy. It is one of the few games that I come back to often. I bought it again now. That is how good this game is. There is a ton to do and a lot of depth in the game. There is a decent learning curve and some difficulty spikes that occur during play. All of this is manageable however, all of it has a real chance of ending your kingdom. I suggest not looking up a guide, except for maybe how to use the interface if you find it troublesome. There is a huge sense of accomplishment that comes from overcoming it yourself. Essentially, your job is to rule the kingdom and make it as prosperous as possible. It is Roller Coaster Tycoon-like in how the map is set up. You can build above or under ground. You can set up the gnomes' AI and let them do a lot on their own or give them orders and tell them what you want done. You set up their jobs and other aspects of how they operate in your kingdom. There is a ton of flavor text as well, that really helps add some attachment to these gnomes. I've had war torn heroes that as I watch their injuries stack up, I feel a weird sense of pride in how they defended the kingdom and how gruesome the battles have been. Each season more gnomes will come and every so often, I think this may also be seasonal, you will get invaded by goblins. Weather will change and you will have to adjust how you gather resources. You will research and develop better technology, to help you get further and further. Optimization is key in everything you do. The game is rogue-like in the fact then when your kingdom falls, it is over. Start over and try to do better. The developer of this game is fantastic as well.
