The amount of love that went into this update is readily apparent: updated graphics, music, interface, director's commentary and that seamless switching between the old and new versions makes this the definitive edition for all DOTT fans. Like many I thought the Grim Fandango remaster was ok but a little lacklustre whereas DOTT Remastered is everything I wanted (and how the game always appears in my nostalgia-filled memories). For me this version completely eradicates the need for SCUMMVM (unless you're desperate to see the old F5 menu) and I can finally wall-mount my original discs as they're now functionally redundant :) Some good points: - Almost finished and haven't hit any bugs yet (fingers crossed) - Looks gorgeous and in true widescreen. Windowed mode lets you resize the window to literally any resolution (including 420 x 240 or smaller). - Remastered music, verbs and graphics are all separate menu toggles so you can have any combination (e.g. old graphics, new interface and old music) - Includes an Object Highlight button (remastered graphics only). No more pixel hunting for those pesky plans. - Music is much more organic and full. No longer sounds like hitting tin cans. Audio is very clean. - Periodically autosaves; saving early and often has never been easier. - Nostalgia overload :D Some bad points: - The new interface (right-click) buttons move around based on what you click on. Means every time you interact with something you have to look around the wheel to find the verb you're after. - If speedrunning with the new interface you can't interact with objects when you're moving. I imagine 99.9% of people couldn't care less, but it's a big deal to some of us :p - Getting a tiny amount of screen tearing in the wide scene pans. No V-sync option. - Concept Art unlocks through the game but there's no way of seeing just the newly unlocked art. I suggest waiting until you've finished the game before looking through them.
