For me the best one has to be Shdow of Chernobyl. It's the one that got me into the series It's the one I bought first. I love this game. It has it's issues, but I love it. The atmosphere is second to none. It's just right on the balance of terror and not full on horror like a horror movie. The game is tense, but in a good way, I was frightened more than scared, though at times that became a bit of a thin line to tell. The shooting is great....after the beginning. the The hunt for artifacts is great. They're odd parkour challenges and they're quite enjoyable for me. They aren't as good or as creative as the ones in Pripyat, but they're fun nonetheless. I also like that a lot of SoC is green. As in, there're trees and grass. it's not as wasteland-y as Pripyat. Perhaps it's nostalgia to blame for why I prefer this one over the others. I'll just have to replay it and find out! :D If you like shooters, don't hesitate to try it out. just be warned, the beginning can be a bit of a slog until you get to the next area/s and get a better weapon, and you should play on the hardest difficulty available. The difficulty changes the ammount of bullet damage and health there is across hte board. so on lower difficulties, the enemies simply feel spongy. It doesn't improve or lower AI. I recommend the Highest difficulty. It's the best option, and the most authentic one.
Amazing game. great shooting, concepts, land and everything, I personally prefer Stalker: SoC (Shadow of Chernobyl) in particular for the atmosphere and general horror and feel.Somehow, this game hasn't scared me the same way as the first one. It's more like many tense moments and a few jump scares from not expecting something there to jump at you, unlike the first one, which had the entire enviroment trying to freak you the f*ck out. And it was magnificent. Many say this game has better shooting than the other 2. I can get that now, after putting in a few hours into the game. Though somehow, there was something about shooting in SoC. I need to revisit it to make sure, but I'm not entirely sure i agree with the idea that Pripyat has the better Gunplay. Either way, this game is absolutely amazing and is certainly worth at least a few hours. I'd give it 5-6 hours worth if you like the idea of shooting russians drinking vodka in the middle of a wasteland. If you liked Chernobyl, just play it.
This is a racing game in which racing to win is essentially the hard mode (you'll figure it out). For those of you looking to play a casual racer: This isn't it. However, if you are looking to play a realistic racer: Again, disappointment. But for the people out there who play the unusual, dank titles: This is another funky one to add to your collection. Yes, it's buggy. Yes, it's a pain in the ass to setup (especially key mapping). And in unusual fashion, there are way too many necessary inputs to assign to any average controller. But damn it, it's a challenging unfair game that will keep you laughing. One thing that improved the experience was the fact that we split controls between 2 people (one on controller, the other on keyboard) with one taking the position of racer, and the other taking on a role not to different from what one could expect from "Mario Kart: Double Dash!". This resulted in many ridiculous scenarios that overhauls the experience. On it's own? Not necessarily worth it. But with a second player? Expect to enjoy the acquired taste that is "Carmageddon: TDR 2000". My favorite vehicle is the "Ped Basher", even in late game. Godspeed you magnificent bastards.
As of now, I haven't beaten the game. But from what I've played and seen by reviews, clearly this one is a great game as well, just like the first. From level one it was great. It's basically more of Thief 1 with more levels and extra mechanics/enemies. That's not a bad thing. It's great.
