Rayman Origins

A new platformer doen right

A lot of people like to talk about how New Mario Bros Wii is great fun with friends, problem is you bounce off eachother and can jump off eachothers heads sending you into pits. Rayman it's harder to unintentionally sabotage friends, it gets a bit hectic with 4 players but the game is so good. The visuals are stunning and brilliant, the music is unique and unless you have no soul will make you at the very least smile. The game has charm with it's characters, levels and 'story' and really fun platforming that only gets better and more difficult as you go gaining more abilities as you go, even has some great challenge levels: the treasure chest chases, and they are fun and crazy. The controls are crazy tight, you never feel out of control or weighed down by an excess of abilities. If there's one negative to say about the abilities the shrink power which is rarely used is a bit hard to get a hang of as it launches you forward when you attack, often firing yourself off a cliff if you're not careful. The game does everything right, you'd be crazy not to get this game. I have it on PS3 and PSV and it's worth it.

Blood: One Unit Whole Blood

FPS fan for ages who missed this gem.

I've played a lot of shooters even growing up. Wolfenstein 3D, Blake Stone, Duke 3D and a lot of modern shooters of today. I saw a review of this on youtube and was skeptical, read some reviews, still skeptical, I bought and played it and wow, wowowowow. First off it's nice to play a 'new' shooter that doesn't have regenerating health and only 2 weapons at a time and takes some thinking. Each enemy brings it's own challenges and some weapons won't be as effective on them meaning the game makes you juggle your weapons a bit. Shotguns will make zombies get back up while a flaregun will kill them in one hit. The game is challenging, has a unique array of weapons and foes, and with a few tweaks to the set up file you can control the game just like any shooter today. It's just a damn good game and if you like anything like Doom, Duke 3D you should get this. For your money you even get 2 expansion packs and the luxury of not having to mess around with Dosbox.

Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold

Fun game

Solid old school shooter based on the Wolfenstein 3D engine but anything but the same. You have to actually not shoot some people because they can provide ammo and what not. The game has it's own unique mechanics like any shooter today based off the same engine would have so it only feels similar to Wolf3D. Either way if you like classic shooters this one is tough and will have you coming back for more, even when they laser blast a hole through your face.
