This is the best Spiderman game that isn't a Spiderman game. The mechanics of the grapple feel so refined and tight, and the addition of the charged jumps plus the rocket pack give you a lot of options on how to do what is ostensibly rather simple platforming in flashy, fast, and satisfying ways. The addition of the time trials and a couple of optional challenges throughout the story give you even more challenge, and something to come back to once your done with the main game. Aside from the amazing mechanics, the story is serviceable, and stays mostly out of the way as it should, the graphics are pleasant if not rough around the edges, the soundtrack is forgettable, but thankfully none of these are bad enough to get in the way of enjoying the main meat of the game. If you're upset with the controls, I can really only say that you're just doing it wrong and are not good enough, but keep trying and you will find there is a lot of skill and nuance to find in how you play.
