It seems most of the negative feelings of this game come from the combat. It takes practice! You have to spar with the trainers, gain strength and agility. Pick plants and jump over fences, fist fight the local toughs. Take a potion or several before an attack. By the time I maxed my stats, I could not be defeated as I was so overpowered. There is no reticle in real life; you have to learn to use the bow and find the best bow for you. Practice by entering contests and hunting. You make money and up your skills. I watched a lot of youtube videos for help before even playing my first time. I've done two playthroughs and loved every minute. I'm going to do it again, just because the replayability factor is so good.
