My greatest joy with this game was the Alexander the Great scenario that came with the game. I spent so much time playing it that i would have been satisified if the scenario was the main game itself. If this game had strong community still creating scenarios i would highly recommend giving this game a try.
I'm a big fan of the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" motto. Fallout was one of my favourite games ever, and basically everything i loved about the original was back in Fallout2 plus more. While it lacks slightly the "Magic" of the first game, it's more than made up for by the sheer size and complexity Black Isle added to Fallout universe.
I didn't enjoy this game as much as civ2 when i was younger. My biggest complaint back then was that the formers looked massive when compared to the cities. However i brought this game recently and i appreciate it in ways i couldn't in my early teens. I don't think I've seen a game try to combine turn based strategy and roleplaying in a game before. It's a game that encourages you to play as a distinct leader of a distinct faction. Technologies, strategies, units, base facilities and secret projects are linked to a factional philosophy and limiting yourself to choosing faction specific options make this game very interesting.
I brought this game due to the hype of Fallout 3. I wanted to familiarize myself with the original games until i had the money to buy Fallout 3. I wasn't too interested until i loaded up the game and started the first cave, and then i was instantly hooked. In my experience it's love at first sight with classic games, you can't learn to love something, the best you can learn is to enjoy or appreciate it. I could list the excellent features of this game, plus some of it's flaws, but that would be directed towards people ho have to learn to enjoy this game. Buy it, give it a couple of hours and you might fall in love with one of the best games ever made.
I couldn't see anyone who is indifferent towards click and point games being wowed by this game. It was made at a point in time when adding twenty minutes of footage of the main character preening herself vainly in every bloody mirror in FMV was brand new and exciting. I personally enjoyed this game on a four star level though, the cheesy acting and stock story enhanced my enjoyment of this game much more than it detracted from it.
I didn't know until recently that MOO3 was so hated by fans of MOO2. MOO3 didn't capture what made MOO2 special, but it's very good 4X space strategy game. I've seen a few reviews slamming this game for being buggy at release, but I've never had any problems with the copy i brought years ago or the copy from GOG, and many patches exist for any bugs that remain. Judge this game on it's on merits and don't compare it to MOO2 and i'm sure many of you will appreciate this games many strong points.
I haven't played this game recently so I'm only going by memory. It's remembered as one the best click and point games, and i agree. Good cast, nice theme, artwork and locations. It's a must play for fan of click an point. I do remember not being impressed with the last chapters of the game as they stray from New Orleans/Voodoo theme, which is the games strong point IMO, but other than that i had very few complaints.
