You will waste a lot of your limited free time redoing tasks because of the horrible combat system and the stupid save system. Save your time and money and just get M&B. Calling a game 'realistic' doesn't make bad design choices any better.
The guy who made this clearly can't do math. Your characters will consistently miss shots that have 80% and higher chances of hitting. Your weapons, that have a chance of 2% to jam, will frequently jam. Safes that show 65% of being unlocked will almost almost require multiple attempts to crack. And the critical fail, which makes the safe impossible to crack, and which is usually 10%, will also trigger way too often. It's a pity, because the rest of the game is pretty awesome, but because combat is part of the core of the game, the bad RNG just makes it a massive chore. Battles that should be over quick will last way too long because your characters will often miss 80% accuracy shots. Successively. At point blank range. At least this also applies to the enemies, who also have this bad luck at aiming. Luckily I got this game for free.
Everything is Viking themed and there's a story mode. The rest is about the same as the base game. Story mode grinds to a halt anyway once you're expected to capture a fort on the frontlines and keep it for 20 days, with your ally lords being their useless selves as usual.
Once your rank becomes high enough, your starter deck won't be enough and you'll lose a lot more. Then it's just about getting new cards to win matches, winning matches to get new cards, losing to players that outrank you, beating new players without any effort. Rinse and repeat until you forget why you started playing in the first place.
I don't know how good the gameplay is past level 1, but the graphics are way too dated to keep my interest in this game. If you end up buying this game, don't compare it to the newer releases. If you're someone who doesn't care about graphics over gameplay, maybe give it a chance.
Unless you love frustration and losing the same battles over and over again, I would highly recommend giving this overhyped series a miss. In what universe is it fair to let the enemy player respawn infinitely while the player gets a game over after losing a single battle to the overpowered AI enemy?
