Dungeon Siege Collection

Great classic but missing content.

First game is old, mechanics are a bit archaic and story is very linear to the bone. E.g. there is no "hub", You have to rush forward to get to next city or go huge way back to previous one, no portals no waypoints. Additionally it misses dlc. Yet it still Has some charm. Second game is a real hem here! All "archaic mechanics" from first one are fine and updated more up to their time, character development is nice and complex, and even linear plot is not a problem thanx to tons of sidequests and secrets. Yet it is incomplete! Yes, the true ending was added in dlc which is missing (remember diablo 2 and dark wanderer?) And without it game is ending with a cliffhanger like having whole story without two final episodes if not that it would be absolute 5* Third gamę is... Well it is very nice much more "modern" feel hns but it is totally different than first two games. It's much more action than RPG but it is complete, Has dlc and is really nice piece of hns. So this rating is mostly for Dungeons Siege 2 as it is best of three games, and would deserve 5* if it Has dlc.

Quake II

Beware!

Game is great but, there IS NO MUSIC!! Music was the thing that build 80% of q2 immersion and now there is no music. Why Gog? why!?

Victor Vran

Great game with very few lacks.

There are two similar games Victor and Van Helsing. They both at the beginning were very similar, a hat-wearing hunter slashing through hordes of enemies. I was about to choose Victor but finally i decided to give Helsing a try. It was my mistake. Third part along with Final Cut were just bad. Classes split killed that game. Then i decie to give Victor a shot. And it was lucky shot in '10'. This game has everything starting from Hat and finishing with weapons. Every weapon has it own skills set, and that allows You to switch between them when You need it instead of building Your char with "hope to find the right weapon", also it makes game much more diversified. You are tired of sword-swinging? Switch to mortar or crush enemeis with hammer! Fate cards are also a great thing, You feel dieing too fast? Use few HP-Steal cards and look how Your Health bar go up instead of running low! Or just let your dmg fly high with crit chance+crit damage combos. Demonic power are nice spellcasting version instead of having thousands of spells use two but use them wisely, combine them together to boost survivability and damage. Last thing - game is divided into instanced dungeons and it is great. You can repeat dungeon in hope of farming something or just maw through it as fast as possible and never look back. Additinally every instance has it's own achievements which You can tru to complete to gain exp/items/gold - and it increases the fun. There are few disadvantage though - first (i know it might sound silly) is lack of "zoom" feature. In games where You can change clothing, weapons, colours etc. it is nice to have possibility to look closer - forget it in VV u use mouse scroll to tumble. Second one is lack of colour - preview, when You are about to use dye you don't know which part of cloth will change it's colour. But this two things are purely cosmetic and don't make game worse in overall.

Darkstone

Worth giving a try

First time i tried this game i was discouraged by it's graphic. It does not age well (as most of 3d games) but after some time i decided to give it second chance. I played for more than few minutes, i made a 2 members party and start an exploration. The companion system turned out to be the best one i've ever seen, in fact both characters are playable (sad that they do not use spells on their own), and it is like something between old infinity games (baldurslike) and diablo clone. Game took the best things from D1 and added some things that were later copied by every following game of genre. The game turned out to be the one that graphic is something you can get used to, and everything else just makes this using to easier. It has random quests, random dungeons, a lot of stuff and great companion system. It is game Worth trying and Worth buying.
