I have this game on Steam and bought it the day I found out it was on GOG. An awesome action FPS that takes all the good stuff from past DOOM games and puts in just enough new stuff to modernize it without taking away what makes DOOM great. Minus 1 star for no multiplayer (come on Bethesda, it's nine years old, throw us a bone), but I mostly play campaign anyway so no big loss.
I first played this game on PS3 and had a fun time with it. The PC version is good but it's clear that this game was designed to be played with a controller and on console. Using mouse+keyboard can make melee attacking difficult as when you attack with your melee weapon turning the camera does not turn your character anymore, and you attack in the direction the character is facing, not where the camera is facing. Also flicking the camera can cause lag and stutter, again, because this game was made for console where flicking is impossible. Finally there's almost no graphics settings, just settings for what resolution you want, shadows, and visual effects like explosions That all said though, the game is very fun IF you're willing to play with a gamepad and don't care about making graphics adjustments. The removal of multiplayer kinda stinks, but I heard from Steam users that the servers were so flooded with cheaters that multiplayer was pretty much unplayable anyway, so no great loss there. Coming from a former console gamer, I had a lot of fun.
