No Man's Sky

Flawed but genuinely fun

For my entire life I have dreamed of exploring interstellar space and encountering alien life. Unfortunately for me, I was born an unknown number of centuries too early. When I discovered No Man's Sky in the early stages of development, I knew this may be the closest experience I'll ever have. When the game dropped in 2016, I had it downloaded and running as quickly as I possibly could. After 40 hours I completed the main storyline and felt like I didn't get anywhere near the experience I was hoping for. I uninstalled it and didn't touch it for 3 years. After the Aug. '19 Beyond update, I reinstalled the game. I was delighted to find that the game mechanics had been massively improved and expanded. The parts that I am enjoying the most are: --Buying and managing ships/freighters --Building bases --Exploring more diverse planets and ET life. --The gorgeous rings they added to some planets --Strategically buying and selling within the game's economy --The improved mining mechanics --The more diverse interaction and socialization with space ships and intelligent alien species The game still has flaws and there are repetitive aspects, but I found the experience genuinely enjoyable, so I'm leaving a positive review!
