This one is very very calming for a puzzle game. I don't regret it or Slipways when I just want to fiddle around...this is the electronic equivalent of a fidget spinner.
Played this off-and-on elsewhere. Each time I play a Spiders' game they refine what was lacking the last time. the graphics here are good, the story is tight, the decisions you make matter...but it's just missing something that doesn't make me attached to the characters. if their line of progress keeps up their next game will probably change the world lol.
to the point: It isn't "strategy" in the traditional sense, but it does require you think very strategically ..it's a visually appealing puzzle game with slightly punishing RNG until you figure out how to scrape a space out and expand around it. only thing i get frustrated with is the point-to-point trading so that you have to account for making several routes to/from each planet rather than have the planets having a "pass through" ability making it possible to create a circle route. Once you start building science points, you will find a decent number of skills letting you increase your slipway distance. this helps a lot late game. I like it, I know what I'm getting, and I know it's going to be a bit devising for it's genre branding. Get it if you want a break from the other deep strategy games..
So far I'm really liking the game for the 10 hours I've played (re-did the character 3 times as I learned stuff about how I want to play) . I've never done quite well in driving games so every time I get in one it's an exercise in vehicular manslaughter. if there was a cruise control I probably would have a better time but it is what it is. Don't get this because you like Witcher 3...get it because your remember the 80s idea of the future was loud, dumb, and full of inappropriate stereotypes. And casual vice...very casual vice.
If you like supernatural horror, the Sergio Leone Westerns, "Dead Cells", and Ron Perlman as a very droll gunfighter...this will hit ALL those buttons. The art-style give it's that little extra push. Bought this elsewhere but I' want people to know this is a damn fine game.
Is it a barn-burner set to revolutionize the industry? no..but it is a well crafted piece of work and had some very funny moments. Disclaimer: Played this on Apple Arcade.
This is one of the most polished games to come out of Spiders and it's leaps ahead of it's earlier games. It also gives us the rare Age of Discovery era with just enough magic to make it enchanting. it it bites you it won't let you go. *Disclaimer: I did not buy this here but on another site when it went on pre-order*
